Similar to other schools of this magnitude, Madison offers a wide variety of courses and majors – almost 5,000 courses and 136 undergraduate majors to be exact. There are eight undergraduate schools including agriculture, business, engineering, and nursing. Madison was recently ranked #13 in the top public universities, and their business, education, chemistry, and engineering programs have top rankings as well.

If you decide to continue your education at Madison, they offer almost 150 Master’s program, some are accelerated only requiring one year following undergrad. Besides top-rated professors and research facilities, the overall academic campus boasts many benefits leaving no wonder as to why Madison is frequently highly regarded. There are 46 libraries on campus containing one of the leading research collections in North America. Learning communities – both residential and course-linked, are offered to help students find others with similar interests. There are more than 900 student organizations. Community volunteering and research is available through their popular Service-Learning program.

  • UW System Application with a deadline of February 1st
  • Two personal statements are included and two letters of recommendation highly encouraged
  • A majority of incoming students have 3-4 years of a single foreign language and two years of fine arts
  • Typical GPAs are 3.7-4.0 and class ranks in the 84-97 percentiles
  • ACT and SAT are accepted with typical scores between 27-31 and 1800-2070 respectively. It is encouraged to submit all exam scores for their comprehensive review
  • Through co-curricular activities, volunteering, and past employment, they look for students that demonstrate leadership, talent, creativity, service, and enthusiasm

Cost & Financial Aid

Reciprocity makes this university a great financial choice for students coming from Minnesota – for tuition & fees they pay around $13,200. Non-residents pay $29,650. A wide variety of merit-based scholarships are offered with a separate scholarship application, and they do accept FAFSA.
