Ryan Luse (MN) has been with IECA since 2012 and has been a Professional Member since 2016. He is an Emerson College alum who majored in communications and writing, and attended Emerson’s Film Program in Los Angeles. Ryan received a certificate in college counseling from UCLA Extension and is a proud graduate (go 2012!) of the IECA Summer Training Institute at Swarthmore College. Currently, he is involved in the College Tour Subcommittee and the Community Committee with IECA. He was also a featured Storyteller at the 2023 IECA Conference.
Ryan operates as the co-owner of College Expert, which was founded by his mother, Sue Luse, in 2001. While working a full-time corporate job, Ryan would often help Sue’s students with creative tasks such as brainstorming essay topics, eventually leading to his journey of becoming a full-time IEC. Ryan helped grow the business by training and mentoring additional IEC’s and reaching more students nationally. In addition to taking on pro bono students, he also gives a yearly College Expert Scholarship to a deserving student chosen by his local school district. Ryan's love for music often shows up in his work, whether it be his “Jam Sessions” with students, winning a talent show singing and playing an original song for charity, or bringing his Beatles-inspired dog, Prudence, to in-person meetings.
Ryan adores being an IEC. During the intro, he tells his prospective students that this should be a meaningful and fun experience because choosing your college destination should be an adventure. Ryan wears many hats, not only in his career but literally. He collects them during his many college visits and displays them all over his office. He loves sharing a story about whatever college is on his head that day with his students.
